Charlie Mulgrew secured his first win as Kelty Hearts manager with a 1-0 win at Palmerston Park. Lewis Moore’s second goal of the season on the stroke of halftime was the difference between the two sides.
The goal came in the fourth minute of added time before the break. After a high press wins it back for Kelty, Liam McLeish tees up Moore at the edge of the box. The midfielder progresses in and places a curled effort low into the bottom right corner.

Kelty Hearts had the better of the first half chances and could’ve been in front seven minutes before the goal. Murray Thomas played Ross Cunningham through into space around 25 yards from goal, his shot was heading for the top corner but Ross Stewart made the save.
Queen of the South came close to drawing level in the second half, when a low cross was fizzed across the goal. A crucial block from Thomas prevented the tap-in and the rebound went behind for a goal kick.

Thomas had a chance to put the game beyond doubt for Kelty in the 89th minute. His run saw him through on goal with just the goalkeeper to beat but the final shot was comfortable for Stewart.
Despite late pressure from Peter Murphy’s side, with a header in the dying minutes going over, the Maroon Machine held on for all three points and ended the winless run.
