Our Premier Sports Cup campaign came to an end after a heavy defeat against Premiership Livingston. Needing a heavy win to secure safety, David Martindale’s side showed no mercy with goals from Andy Winter, Adam Montgomery, Robbie Muirhead (2), Shane Blaney and Stevie May.

Livingston started as they would go on with a goal inside the opening minute. Graham Carey’s corner was headed on by Andy Winter into the back of the net. The second came in the 26th minute, when Livingston quickly overturned possession and Montgomery got on the end of a good move.
Robbie Muirhead would score a brace before the break, the first of which was the pick of the bunch. From around 30 yards Muirhead curled a free-kick into the bottom right corner. His second was a good header from a Finlayson cross where Muirhead rose the highest.
Kelty’s best chance of the game came in the 54th minute capitalising on a rare Livingston mistake. Aaron Arnott won the ball high up and slid through James Graham, he took a good touch and fired towards goal but his shot was saved.

Livingston would get back to goalscoring ways in the 84th minute. A quick corner routine caught out the Kelty defence as May’s cut-back was tapped in by Blaney. Two minutes later the final goal was scored through May getting on the end of Carey’s cross.
Reflecting on the match to Kelty Hearts TV, Thomas O’Ware was “disappointed overall with the result. Under the context of the team we’ve had to play, we needed to look after the experienced members of our team. We knew what today was going to be, so now we just fully focus on preparations for next week.”
