The Maroon Machine secured a vital win against Inverness Caledonian Thistle with goals from Luke McCarvel and Robbie Cole. This was Kelty’s first win in six and lifts us to sixth in the table – seven points clear of ninth place.
After a second half where Kelty Hearts had to be patient, the deadlock was eventually broken in the 79th minute. James Lyon had only been on the pitch for one minute before he played a pinpoint pass to Luke McCarvel. The winger was through one-on-one with the goalkeeper and finished calmly to give Kelty the lead.

While Caley Thistle were pushing for an equaliser, Kelty struck on the counter to put the result beyond doubt. Tam O’Ware hooked the ball away from a corner and Robbie Cole from deep in his own half ran into the Inverness box and struck low into the bottom corner.
Kelty Hearts had multiple chances to add to the scoring throughout the afternoon. Cole could’ve scored two minutes before the opener but placed his effort wide of the post. In the first half, Craig Johnston forced a good save from Musa Dibaga who turned his curled shot behind for a corner.

The home side’s best chance came right before the half-time whistle through Charlie Gilmour. After some good play from Caley Thistle, Gilmour’s strike hit the post and hit Ruaridh Adams on the rebound but the Kelty ‘keeper quickly reacted.
Reflecting on the afternoon’s action to Kelty Hearts TV, interim manager Tam O’Ware was “delighted with the result. We’ve put a lot of blame onto ourselves, we had to find a way to get out of this position and to a man I thought we were outstanding.”
