Match Report: Dumbarton 2-0 Kelty Hearts

Kelty Hearts suffered their first defeat in three at the hands of Dumbarton.  A second half brace from Kalvin Orsi clinched three points for the Sons against ten man Kelty.

The momentum of the match changed when Scott Allan was shown a straight red card in the 68th minute.  In the middle of the patch, Dumbarton won back possession with Allan pressing.  Allan clipped Finlay Gray late once play had moved on and the referee dismissed the Kelty midfielder.

The opening goal came just two minutes after Scott Allan’s sending off.  From the resulting free kick the Sons fire it into the box and Kelty fail clear the danger. Kalvin Orsi picked up the ball on the edge of the box, skipped around his man and finished into the bottom corner.

With the Maroon Machine in search of an equaliser, Dumbarton put the game beyond doubt in the 89th minute.  The counter attack came through Craig McGuffie and Orsi, with the former setting up the latter for his second of the afternoon.

Kelty’s best chance of the match came shortly after the restart from a set piece. Ross Cunningham fired in a low cross which Connor Allan met but could only fire wide.

The first half lacked real quality from both sides with the Maroon Machine in charge of play. Shots from Scott Allan for Kelty and Mouhamed Niang for Dumbarton both sailed over the bar.
