Match Report: Cove Rangers 2-2 Kelty Hearts

Kelty Hearts’ position in next season’s League One was confirmed after a two goal comeback in Aberdeen.

Cove Rangers took the lead in the 30th minute through Adam Emslie. Dylan Lobban turned from his man into space and drilled a cross from the right for Emslie, who finished into the bottom corner.

The hosts doubled their lead in the 38th minute from the spot. After Fraser Fyvie was fouled from behind in the box by Scott Allan, Mitch Megginson fired low and hard into the bottom right corner.

Kelty would get back into the game in the 61st minute through Craig Johnston. Jacob MacIntyre’s shot cannons off the bar and Johnston is there to volley in the rebound.

The comeback was complete just seven minutes later through Ross Cunningham. His first shot was blocked in the box but he fired in the rebound giving the goalkeeper no chance.  This was Cunningham’s 13th league goal of the season, bringing him level with Mitch Megginson who also netted in the 90 minutes.

Reflecting on the match to Kelty Hearts TV, Tam O’Ware believed “overall it’s what we deserved.  The second half is exactly what I want to see from the team.  The energy and intensity we played at, I thought the boys were absolutely terrific in the second half.”
