Kelty Hearts Humbled Away to Alloa

Kelty Hearts were convincingly beaten by Alloa Athletic at the Indodrill Stadium.  First half goals from Luke Rankin and Calum Adamson saw the Wasps soar into a two goal lead before David Devine added a third in the 62nd minute.

It took just 12 minutes for the hosts to get the scoring underway through Rankin.  Adamson lined up a strike from far out which saw Corey Armour parry out to Rankin, who managed to squeeze a shot into the near post despite Brydon’s attempted clearance.

Nine minutes later, Andy Graham’s side had doubled their lead through Adamson.  After a spell of pressure, Scott Taggart lofted a cross in from the right towards Adamson, with the midfielder taking a touch and slotting into the bottom corner.

Alloa’s third came from a set-piece turned in by Devine.  A free-kick on the left was taken short to Callum Burnside, from the edge of the box he drilled a cross towards the far post where Devine was alert to slide home.

The Wasps had a golden chance on the counter to make it four.  Substitute Lewis Stewart found space down the right to dart at the Kelty goal, his cross found Conor Sammon who had his close-range effort saved by Armour.

Kelty’s best chance of the match came in the first half with the score at 2-0.  Lewis Moore had space cutting in on the left to fire a shot at goal, the attempt was saved but spilled into a dangerous area.  Unfortunately for the Maroon Machine the Alloa defence was first alert to clear.

Reflecting on the match to Kelty Hearts TV, Thomas O’Ware admitted “I thought we got what we deserved.  We got bullied, we were outworked and outran…which I never saw coming.  The performance was unacceptable and it won’t be accepted any more.”
