Kelty Prepare for Palmerston Trip

The Maroon Machine travel down to take on Queen of the South at Palmerston Park.  After four points in our last two games Thomas O’Ware will be hopeful the turnaround can continue in Dumfries.

Our opponent’s form has faltered in the last week after an impressive run.  Peter Murphy’s side had won four on the bounce prior to last week.  A 2-0 defeat to Stenhousemuir was then followed by a KDM Evolution Trophy exit to Championship Raith Rovers.

Meetings between Kelty Hearts and the Doonhamers have been tight this season.  In Dumfries the hosts came out on top, a late winner from former Kelty man Reece Lyon secured all three points.  At New Central Park, a goal from Ricco Diack cancelled out Kai Kennedy’s penalty as the spoils were shared.

The Doonhamers sit third in the table and are three points behind leaders Stenhousemuir.

Saturday could mark two debuts for Kelty Hearts as two defenders joined midweek.  Sam Fisher and Dylan Corr have signed on loan until the end of the season from Dunfermline Athletic and Greenock Morton respectively.  Corr is primarily a central defender as is Fisher, however the latter can also play at right-back.

Previewing the match to Kelty Hearts TV, assistant manager Michael Tidser said “there’s no easy games from top to bottom.  We know what they’ve got; they’re big and physical, they’re a good side.  It’s important we get everyone prepared to go down to Palmerston and try to get a positive result.”
