For the third successive season, Kelty Hearts’ first away game of the league campaign is a trip to Links Park to take on Montrose.

Kelty Hearts will be hoping to bounce back after a disappointing opening day defeat to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.  For Montrose, they began the campaign with a 2-0 loss to Hamilton Academical at Broadwood.

Last season it was difficult to separate the two sides in their meetings.  An opening day 1-1 draw was followed by a 2-0 win for Stewart Petrie’s side at New Central Park.  The remaining two encounters finished goalless.

Montrose had a difficult Premier Sports Cup campaign; losing narrowly to Airdrie and Alloa, beating Bonnyrigg Rose 4-1 before a 5-0 hammering from Premiership Dundee.  Last season the Gable Endies finished eighth in the table, their lowest position since the 2017/18 season.

Previewing the match to Kelty Hearts TV, Thomas O’Ware said “we know it will be a tough game.  We need to dust ourselves off, make do with what we’ve got just now and the ones who are available need to show the hunger to stay in the team.”
