The second quarter of the William Hill Championship season kicks off as Kelty Hearts host Montrose. Having now played every other team once, the league table is extremely tight with three points separating first and sixth.
Kelty met Montrose at Links Park on the opening day of the season which played out as a 1-1 draw. Craig Brown opened the scoring for the Angus side in the second half, before Ross Cunningham scored his first of the season less than ten minutes later.

Since then, Montrose have picked up 13 points from the opening quarter. The Gable Endies started the season strongly, only losing one of their opening seven league games. Last time out, they were defeated by Annan however they have been free-scoring, with Kane Hester notching four goals so far.
It is back to league action for Kelty Hearts, after exiting the SPFL Trust Trophy last weekend. In a Fife derby Kelty came up short against Championship Dunfermline, despite taking the lead through Craig Johnston. Goals from Chris Kane and Matty Todd completed the turnaround for the Pars.
In league form, the Maroon Machine are coming off the back of back-to-back wins. A home victory against Annan was followed by a convincing 5-1 win over Queen of the South.
Kelty Hearts TV spoke to Michael Tidser about focussing on the league as “our bread and butter. We know it will be a really tough game, but now it’s full focus on the league. We’re doing well, there’s still growth in the squad. I just want everyone back fit, training hard and looking forward to Saturday.”
