Kelty’s Run-In Continues in Trip to League Leaders

The Maroon Machine make the journey to the Highlands to take on league leaders Inverness Caledonian Thistle.  The Caley Jags are top of the table by one point ahead of Stenhousemuir, with three left to play.

For Kelty Hearts, the upturn in form has kept the battle to avoid relegation alive.  Two points separate Kelty and Hamilton, with one matchday able to flip Kelty’s fortunes.  Last time out, Kelty got their long awaited first home victory by defeating Montrose 3-1.

Inverness are battling away for the title and they leapfrogged Stenhousemuir with a midweek win against Peterhead.  Goals from Alfie Stewart and Chanka Zimba either side of half time clinched all three points in Aberdeenshire.

During the week, three Inverness players were acknowledged by fellow League One players in the PFA Scotland League 1 team of the year.  Alfie Stewart earned a spot alongside defenders Daniel Devine and Remi Savage.

The last time the two sides met was a goalless draw at New Central Park.  Kelty also got a valuable point in the Highlands in October, after Scott Kellacher’s side battled back from two goals down.

Both teams will be desperate for three points as the close of the season draws in.  Three points would be vital for Caley Thistle as they look to secure the title, meanwhile everyone at Kelty Hearts knows how important a win could be.
