Match Preview: Cove Rangers v Kelty Hearts

Kelty Hearts make the journey north to Aberdeen to take on Cove Rangers at Balmoral Stadium.  Only one point separates the two sides as Kelty sit in the final play-off spot with Cove just outside.

The Maroon Machine will be keen to put the disappointment of last week’s loss behind them.  Last time out was a 2-0 defeat by Alloa at New Central Park, in a game where Kelty Hearts struggled to make an impact.

Kelty Hearts have never beaten Cove Rangers in a league match, with both league meetings last season at Balmoral Stadium finishing 2-2.  Earlier this season it was Paul Hartley’s side who came out on top at New Central Park, with late goals from Blair Yule and Findlay Marshall securing a 3-1 win.

Since then, Cove Rangers have struggled for form in the league after a positive spell of four wins in five after the meeting in Kelty.  The team from the south side of Aberdeen are now winless in their last four (excluding a cup win against Inverness), picking up only a point against Annan in that time.

This match will also feature three of the league’s top scorers.  With Ross Cunningham having scored more than any other player in the division, Cove’s Mitch Megginson has scored two goals less than Kelty’s number 10, with Scott Williamson scoring one less than Megginson.

Previewing the match to Kelty Hearts TV after last week, Michael Tidser said “we move on.  It’s a demanding league, so we need to put it behind us and move on to next week.”
