Match Preview: Arbroath v Kelty Hearts

Kelty Hearts make the journey to Arbroath this Saturday to return to league action under new management.  This will be Charlie Mulgrew and assistant Mark Kerr’s first time taking the helm – with tough test against the league leaders.

It’s a top of the table clash at Gayfield as a win for Kelty will see us leapfrog Arbroath and potentially reach the summit depending on Stenhousemuir’s result.  The BBC Alba cameras will be there to broadcast this 5:30pm kick off.

The Maroon Machine have enjoyed wins in the two previous meetings this campaign.  In August, Kelty ran out 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Scott Allan, Ross Cunningham and Scott Williamson.

Kelty would score three against the Red Lichties once again at New Central Park, in a thrilling 3-2 win.  A brace from Jacob MacIntyre cancelled out goals from Gavin Reily and Innes Murray before Williamson once again was a thorn in the sides for the Angus team.

Since then, Arbroath have been in good form winning two of their last three matches to keep up their title hopes.  Co-managers Colin Hamilton and David Gold have bolstered their squad this week with the signing of Sam Stanton on loan from Raith Rovers, Stanton was the Kirkcaldy side’s player of the year last campaign.

Meanwhile, Kelty Hearts are looking to get back to winning ways in the league and will be hopeful that last week’s 4-1 win in the East of Scotland Cup will inspire another good performance.
