Michael Tidser Wins Manager of the Month

Michael Tidser has been named the SPFL William Hill League One Manager of the Month for August.  Kelty Hearts’ have finished the month at the summit of the league table after an unbeaten five game start.

Tidser signed for Kelty as a player in 2020, and has been manager at the club since the beginning of the 2023/24 season.

“It’s good for the whole club,” Tidser told Kelty Hearts TV.  “It’s pleasing for me to get it but it’s a reflection of the coaching team as a whole. It’s a real team effort, we’ve started the season well and the players need to perform well and this award is a reflection on that too.”

The season began up in Montrose up at Links Park where the Maroon Machine came back from behind to secure a 1-1 draw.  Craig Brown fired the hosts ahead before Ross Cunningham equalised.  Tidser played in the midfield that day and was able to command the side from on the pitch.

The following game was the first at New Central Park as Kelty hosted last season’s League Two champions Stenhousemuir.  Goals from Scott Allan and Cunningham either side of half-time sealed a deserved victory.  Next up was a memorable trip to Gayfield where a dominant second half performance resulted in a 3-0 win.  More goals from Allan and Cunningham on both sides of a Scott Williamson strike clinched another three points.

A goalless draw against Inverness at home kept the unbeaten run going.  This was a game where Tidser was taken off just after half-time through injury so took over in the touchline.  Although there was no breakthrough, the gaffer was happy with the point and the clean sheet.  This was followed by a 2-2 draw away to Dumbarton at the Rock where Luke McCarvel and Craig Johnston’s goals were cancelled out by Mark Durnan’s 89th minute equaliser.

Well done gaffer!
