Thomas O’Ware has added to his attacking options with the signing of exciting youngster Theo McCormick.

The 19-year-old joins Kelty Hearts on loan following a spell with Dumbarton last season, where he gained valuable experience of senior football while on loan from St Mirren. Theo has also featured for St Mirren’s B team and has previously experienced senior football with Bo’ness United, continuing his development through regular competitive football.

McCormick is no stranger to the manager, having worked with Thomas O’Ware during their time together at Queen’s Park, and the Kelty boss believes the move provides the youngster with an excellent opportunity to take the next step in his development.

“Theo is an exciting young player who has done really well with the B team and has already gained some valuable experience playing senior football,” said O’Ware.

“I know Theo from my time at Queen’s Park and I’ve always liked what I’ve seen from him. He’s got good attributes and, at this stage of his career, it’s about getting him into an environment where he can continue to develop and show what he can do.

“This is a great opportunity for him to come in, work with the group and hopefully break into the team. We’re looking forward to seeing him develop and contribute to the squad.”

For McCormick, the move represents another important step in his progression as he looks to establish himself in senior football.

The youngster now joins a Kelty Hearts squad aiming to challenge for promotion back to League One and will be hoping to make his mark at New Central Park.
