It was an afternoon to remember for Kelty Hearts at Gayfield as we ran out 3-0 winners. Second half goals from Scott Allan, Scott Williamson and Ross Cunningham gave the Maroon Machine the three points.
After a goalless first 45 minutes with chances for both sides, the first goal would come in the 69th minute. Craig Johnston intercepts a loose pass deep in the Kelty half and sets up a counter playing it long to Cunningham. He then slips in Scott Allan who darts into the box and slots past the ‘keeper.

The second would come in the 76th minute and it was Cunningham and Johnston linking up again. After some neat passing between the two, Johnston played a through ball towards Williamson who calmly finished past McAdams in the Arbroath net.

The ten minute goal frenzy was complete in the 79th minute when Cunningham scored his third goal in as many games this season. Johnston again was involved as he ran at the defence and played in Cunningham who had the space for a first-time strike at the edge of the box to the goalkeeper’s right.

In the closing stages of the match Kelty could’ve added another two goals to the haul. First, Williamson picked up the ball just inside his own half and ran at the two centre-halves. His run took him into box and his shot beat McAdams but went agonisingly past the post. A few minutes later a similar chance fell the way of substitute Luke McCarvel, however his finish was identical to Williamson’s earlier chance.
The first half saw Kelty on top for the opening twenty minutes, with Williamson having a pop just outside the box however Keith Watson deflected the shot over the bar.

The hosts did have some chances in the first half, notably forcing Ruaridh Adams into a double-save. However, a clinical 10 minutes in the second half gave Kelty Hearts the deserved three points.
Michael Tidser reflected on the performance and result to Kelty Hearts TV by saying “that’s probably the most pleased I’ve been since becoming manager. For the majority of the game we were outstanding, we scored three and we had another three or four good chances.”
