The 2024/25 William Hill Scottish League One season gets underway this weekend as we travel to Montrose.  Following a mixed Premier Sports Cup campaign, Kelty will begin the league season at Links Park.

The sides last met in the penultimate game of last season, which confirmed Montrose’s play-off finish.  In the play-offs the Gable Endies were beaten in the semi-final by Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who would be beaten in the final by Hamilton.  The Maroon Machine got the better of the Angus side once in the four fixtures last season, a 2-0 win on the opening day with goals from Lewis Moore and Botti Biabi.

Stewart Petrie’s side will be hopeful for another top four finish for the 2024/25 season, however they also did not progress through their Premier Sports cup group – finishing third behind Motherwell and Partick Thistle.

The Maroon Machine will have to put the disappointment of the 6-0 thrashing against Queen’s Park behind them.  Michael Tidser reminded supporters and players how important it will be to respond with a good performance against another good side.
