Match Preview: Arbroath v Kelty Hearts

Kelty Hearts travel north to Angus in match day three of the 2024/25 William Hill League One season as we face Arbroath.

The Red Lichties have returned to the third tier of Scottish football after four seasons in the championship. Jim McIntyre’s side have struggled to adapt their new league with an opening day loss to Stenhousemuir and a goalless draw to Montrose last time out.

This is the first time the two sides have shared a division, with the only meeting so far coming in the League Cup three years ago. The Angus side ran out winners that day in a dramatic 3-2 win which saw Kallum Higginbotham and Joe Cardle on the scoresheet for Kelty.

The Maroon Machine will be hoping to build on the positive start to the league campaign which showed with a good performance and result against Stenhousemuir last weekend.  Goals from Scott Allan and Ross Cunningham either side of half-time sealed the deserved three points.

Michael Tidser previewed the tough trip to Gayfield to Kelty Hearts TV after the win against Stenny by saying “we know how difficult it will be. It’s up to us to have full focus and respect the teams we’re playing, do our homework and try to take the game to them and win it.”
