An Interview with Lewis Moore

After a staggering 655-day absence from first team football, Lewis made his first competitive start  last season under the guidance of manager Michael Tidser.

Lewis’ competitive debut came against Stranraer at New Central Park and was just the beginning as the #23 quickly became a fan favourite at New Central Park.

Reflecting on his return to football there was never a doubt he’d make the return “I knew I’d play somewhere but there was the question of would I want to. Speaking with the gaffer though he invited me in for training and to show me around the place and it was a no brainer for me, and I’ve enjoyed it ever since.

As a player who thrives on confidence, Lewis was quick to acknowledge the pivotal role Tidser has played in his development since joining Kelty. “He’s always been someone that likes to play football on the ground. He’s got high standards and is demanding of himself and his players”. This belief in Tidser’s methods has translated into strong performances for Moore though Lewis admits this season has been more challenging.  “We’ve had a few big results and performances this season already. From a team perspective I think we’ve played really well, the performances have been there but we need to do better taking our chances when we get them. From a personal standpoint I don’t believe I’ve been anywhere near the standards of last season and hopefully I can change that as soon as possible”.

One of Lewis’ standout moments in a Kelty shirt came in the Scottish Cup, where the maroon machine secured a stunning 2-0 victory against Hamilton Accies. The match carried an added intensity that cup games often bring, but it was also a personal highlight for Lewis as he netted a spectacular goal in the process. “Hamilton away in the Scottish Cup was a personal highlight, (Scottish Cup fixtures) have a bit extra buzz about them and no one really fancied us to go through but we put in a great performance and scored a couple of good goals”.

For a player like Lewis Moore, the return to professional football wasn’t without its challenges, however with the support of  Tidser and the team around, our #23 continues to impress at New Central Park.
