Jason Thomson Departs

Jason Thomson called it a day on his playing career at New Central Park after another stellar season in Maroon.

Beginning at Hearts of Midlothian, Jason has gone on to play over 500 profession games in the SPFL including spells at Raith Rovers and Arbroath as well as loan spells at Dunfermline and Livingston.

Signed by John Potter in September 2022 Thomson quickly became a fan favourite for his performances on the pitch as well as his work off the pitch, taking part in initives like our SPFL Festive Friends Programme last winter.

Jason was one of the first on Tidsers list of names to secure when the new gaffer took up his post and the manager was keen to keep Thomson for one more season “He’s been brilliant for me in my first season as manager, not only on the pitch but off the pitch as well. I tried a few times to get one more year out of Jase, he’s had a brilliant career and its been a pleasure to play alongside him and to have him in the squad.”

Craig Reynolds, in his first season as Sporting Director at Kelty Hearts FC, noted the importance of Jason Thomson in establishing the new set-up in League One this year “Jason has been brilliant for the club, having his experience has helped us get to where we are now. He has had a great career and deserves all the plaudits.” Craig was quick to thank Jason for his contributions over the last two seasons “On behalf of the board, committee, supporters and everyone involved at the club I’d like to wish him all the best on his retirement.”

Thomson Career was recognised at our Awards Night where Steven Mill presented Jason with a Career Recognition Plate following his decision at the end of the season.

We wish Jason all the best in his future endeavours and thank him for his time at Kelty Hearts.
