Thomas O’Ware has added to his squad with a familiar face as Kallum Higginbotham returns to the club.
A hugely popular figure during his previous spell at New Central Park, Kallum returns to Kelty Hearts after playing a key role in one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. An influential member of the side that secured promotion to the SPFL before going on to lift the League Two title in 2022, the attacking midfielder will once again pull on the maroon and white as the club looks to challenge in League Two this season.
During that memorable 2021/22 campaign, Kallum made 45 appearances across all competitions, scoring 9 goals while helping the club record 29 victories from 46 matches on the way to League Two glory. His quality on the ball, creativity and experience made him a firm favourite with the Kelty Hearts support, and he now returns to New Central Park with plenty still to offer.
Speaking after completing his return, Kallum said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be back. I had an amazing time here previously, so when the manager gave me a call, it was a no-brainer. I really enjoyed my first spell at the club, and I’m excited to be back, see some familiar faces, and get started again.”
When asked about his first impressions of the club since being back Kallum has this to say: “I’m absolutely delighted to be back. I had an amazing time here previously, so when the manager gave me a call, it was a no-brainer. I really enjoyed my first spell at the club, and I’m excited to be back, see some familiar faces, and get started again.”
Manager Thomas O’Ware believes Higginbotham’s experience and winning mentality will be a valuable addition to his squad heading into the new campaign.
The manager had this to add on Kallum’s return “Kallum is a winner, and that’s a mentality we want to bring into the dressing room. We have a young, hungry group, and bringing in someone who has experienced success at this club before will be invaluable. He knows what it takes to win, and I’m sure he’ll play a pivotal role both on the pitch and off it, as a player and as a leader.”
Everyone at Kelty Hearts is delighted to welcome Higgy back to New Central Park and wishes him every success in maroon and white once again.
