Capital Bound Maroon Machine

Kelty Hearts are back on the road this weekend, travelling down the M8 to Edinburgh where they will face fellow League Two opposition, The Spartans.

It has been a difficult league campaign so far this season, but the Maroon Machine will take confidence from a brilliant 2–1 win over Montrose last weekend, with Michael Tidser’s men looking to build momentum heading into Saturday’s clash.

The Spartans currently sit towards the top end of the League Two table. Despite their consistency so far, they suffered a 3–0 defeat away to Dumbarton in their last league outing, before following that with a 0–0 draw against Gala Fairydean Rovers and a 1–0 victory over Dundee B.

The gap in the table is smaller than it may seem, with only three points separating the two sides in William Hill League Two.

Kelty Hearts and The Spartans also have recent history. In March 2025, Kelty defeated the Edinburgh side 2–1 to lift the East of Scotland Cup, with goals from Liam McLeish and Lucas Richardson proving enough to secure the trophy.

Another exciting encounter is expected this weekend, with Kelty looking to continue building momentum and improve their league form. With the League Two table still tightly packed, three points could make a significant difference as the Maroon Machine look to climb the standings.
